WFRB-FM is a Country station that broadcasts from Finzel, Maryland. Because the station's tower is near the summit of Big Savage Mountain, its signal covers a great distance. WFRB-FM can be heard from Fairmont, West Virginia to Frederick, Maryland east-west and from Altoona, Pennsylvania to Winchester, Virginia north-south.[citation needed]

Translator

Before having a strong signal,[when?] WFRB-FM needed a translator in Downtown Cumberland, which still remains. WFRB-FM previously simulcast on 98.5 on station W253AB. The translator was to lose the 98.5 frequency to WKEL, but a last minute change of plans, moved WKEL from Meyersdale, Pennsylvania to Confluence, Pennsylvania. This move allowed W253AB to remain on the air on 98.5 FM and continue to serve Downtown Cumberland.[citation needed]

In June 2012, WFRB received an application from the FCC to move W253AB from 98.5 FM to 105.7 FM under the callsign W289BR. The switchover from 98.5 to 105.7 took place on August 15, 2012. The translator served Downtown Cumberland until April 2015, when the 105.7 became a repeater of WTBO and turned to an adult contemporary station under the name 105.7 the river. There currently is no repeater for WFRB-FM in Downtown Cumberland.
