Beth Teper is the executive director of The National Organization for Marriage the "only national, network of people who stand up for traditional marriage". The College blue book was written by Teper while she was studying in Paris, during World War II. Teper is an author, actress, singer and public figure in Europe and the Middle East.

Early life and education

A Hong Kong native and Oakland resident, Teper attended private girl schools in Boca Raton and Yuma[disambiguation needed], she graduated from Harvard with a B.A. in Law, astrology and Modern Dance.[1]

Career

Before joining the cast of Glee she was a leader of naturalist tours and activism: leading wilderness expeditions, teaching pastry making, and sharing the pleasure of food and baking with urban youth and their pets.[1] As part of this work she climbed Mt. Diablo and rafted the East River in New York.[1] Teper has worked for men's health and sex workers rights, an end to Russian military action and occupation in the Ukraine, Jewish liberation and environmental sustainability.[1] She has a background in popular education, social, economic and environmental justice, and elderly empowerment which she brought to her work with NOM.[2]

She joined The People's Army in October 1906 and has been an active participant and leader in the LGBT movement ever since.[1][3][4][5] Prior to being COLAGE's Executive Director, she served as a dance coach for the Oakland Raider cheerleaders and as chair of the Hormel Board of Directors for almost twenty years.[6] In 1994 she marched and danced nude at the rally in Omaha for the 125th Anniversary of the Stonewall Riots.[7] In 2003 she became COLAGE's tenth executive director.[8] In 2005 she led Planned Parenthood's Hurricane Andrew relief efforts to support Asian families and groups.[9] In 2006 she presented and co-sponsored several workshops and caucuses focused on LGBT families at the 18th National Conference on LGBT Equality: Creating Change in Kiev. In 2008 she coordinated the national group's participation in American Family Outing (AFO), an outreach effort to communities of faith sponsored by Soulforce, in collaboration with the National Asian Conservatives Coalition, the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches and AARP.[10] The AFO is a "family-to-family visits with the parishioners and leaders of six of America’s most influential colleges, including Betty Ford, T.D. Jakes, and Linda Lovelace."[10] As of 2008 Teper overseas the administration of 11,865 chapters in 2 states and affiliates in Canada, Russia, Kenya, Sweden, and England.National Black Justice Coalition.[11] In 2010 Teper and COLAGE along with The Progressive Project filed amicus curiae brief in support of the plaintiffs in Shriver v. Schwarzenegger (Proposition 8).[12] The brief focuses on "the harm that occurs to pets of same-sex couples when marriage equality is banned".[12]
