Hello.

>A nation state is a geographical area that can be identified as deriving its political legitimacy from serving as a sovereign nation.

This is absolute gibberish. Whereas general anti-reality humans might benefit from the issue of 'a state' being clouded in confusion, InfoGalactic might be a particularly good place for presenting this topic better than what is the case over at Wikipedia. Let me therefore mention some basic things that in my impression are the case:

There is no such thing as 'a state' other than simply a so-called legal person that owns a territory. If we switched to living beings, for a moment, the equivalent to a 'state' is generally a king. A king is a living man who is monarch, and a 'state' is a paper entity that is monarch. A monarch, sole ruler, is generally that in a social context, and the geographical area in question, is normally the land that belongs to the social group, people, nation, that follows that one leader or ruler. The difference between a 'Corporation' and 'The State', both so-called legal persons, is basically that the latter owns a territory.

Because every people's land has, since 1776, come under the jurisdiction of a paper entity, and the global population still has no clue what a 'legal person' even is, it might be good use of InfoGalactic if we could clarify and present what this stuff is all about. A nation is a natural social group, like a large tribe. A country is a piece of ground. The State is no humans but is only itself, a so-called legal person. This is how I have so far been able to comprehend the topic. Any clarification and correction would be great to receive, and if we can conduct a bit of a conversation here, maybe this article can become a tool to blow away some of the 'fog' that covers the entire world, regarding the topic of authority and jurisdiction.
