The Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU) is a public Agricultural university in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. The university was established on 12 June 1964, with O. Pulla Reddy as the first vice-chancellor. It was formally inaugurated on 20 March 1965, by Lal Bahadur Shastri, the then Prime Minister of India. Another milestone was the inauguration of the building programme of the university by Indira Gandhi, the then Prime Minister of India on 23 June 1966. The Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University was separated as a regional university in the year 2014 as a result of the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh.[1]

History
According to the Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University Act, 1963, Colleges of Agriculture and Veterinary Science, Hyderabad (affiliated to Osmania University), Agricultural College, Bapatala (affiliated to Andhra University), Sri Venkateswara Agricultural College and Andhra Veterinary College, Tiruapti (affiliated to Sri Venkateswara University) were transferred to the new university in June 1964. About 41 agricultural research stations and four research stations were transferred to the university in July 1966 and May 1967, respectively.

Facilities
Acharya N.G.Ranga Agricultural University is the largest in India with an infrastructure of nine colleges, 58 research stations distributed in seven agro-climatic zones of the state, eight agricultural polytechnics, one horticultural polytechnic, one multipurpose polytechnic, 22 District Agricultural Advisory and Transfer of Technology Centres, 12 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (Farmer Science Centre), one Agricultural Technology and Information Centre and Electronic Media Wing apart from one Extension Education Institute and Agricultural Information and Communication Centre.

Academics
ANGRAU offers undergraduate degree courses in the faculties of Agriculture and Home Science at its constituent colleges. Students are admitted into all these courses (except B.Sc (Hons.) Home Science) based on their performance in the Engineering Agricultural and Medical Common Entrance Test (EAMCET) conducted by the Government of Andhra Pradesh.
Publications
