Danielle Bregoli Peskowitz (born March 26, 2003), also known by her stage name as Bhad Bhabie (pronounced /bæd ˈbbi/, "bad baby"), is an American social media personality and rapper. She became known for the viral video meme and catch phrase "catch me outside" after appearing on the Dr. Phil show in September 2016.[3] She released her debut single as a recording artist in late August 2017.

Early life

Danielle Bregoli Peskowitz was born March 26, 2003.[1][2] Her parents, Ira Peskowitz and Barbara Ann Bregoli, dated for a year before Bregoli's mother became pregnant, later breaking up when she was an infant. Bregoli was raised primarily by her mother, and is estranged from her father, a deputy who works for the Palm Beach Police Department.[4][5]

Career

On September 14, 2016, 13-year-old Danielle Bregoli and her mother Barbara Ann were interviewed for the segment "I Want To Give Up My Car-Stealing, Knife-Wielding, Twerking 13-Year-Old Daughter Who Tried To Frame Me For A Crime" to discuss Danielle's behavior, which included stealing a crew member’s car while the episode was being filmed. When Bregoli became irritated at the laughter that the audience exhibited at her expense, she responded to it by saying, "Catch me outside how about that", her pronunciation of the phrase of which became a viral Internet meme "Cash Me Ousside Howbow Dah", and Bregoli became known as the "Cash Me Ousside Girl".[6][7][8][9] On February 10, 2017, Bregoli reappeared on the show with her therapist, but without the studio audience, due to the events of their previous appearance.[10] Her first appearance on the show, and the catchphrase it spawned, would inspire a single based around the clips that was recorded by DJ Suede The Remix God, which entered the Billboard Hot 100, Streaming Songs, and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts in its March 4, 2017 issue. The song in turn led to a series of dance videos that were uploaded onto YouTube.[11]

Bregoli and her mother sued three companies for "infringing her intellectual property rights" by using her signature catchphrase without consent. She also threatened to sue Walmart for using her catchphrase on t-shirts.[12] She was also nominated for a 2017 MTV Movie & TV Awards in the "Trending" category based on the catchphrase.[13]

Legal issues

Following her appearance on Dr. Phil, Bregoli spent time on a Utah ranch for troubled teens. She was later arrested and pleaded guilty to charges of grand theft, marijuana possession, and filing a false police report for which she was sentenced to five years probation in July 2017.[3]

In February 2017, Bregoli's mother Barbara Ann became involved in a fight with a female passenger, who accused her of taking too long to put her belongings in an overhead locker. Bregoli then punched the passenger in the face and was removed from the flight. All three parties involved in the scuffle were banned from Spirit Airlines for life.[14] In the same month, Bregoli got involved in a brawl outside a bar.[15]

Music

Bregoli released her first single "These Heaux" (pronounced "these hoes") on August 26, 2017. The recording reached number 77 on the Billboard Hot 100, making Bregoli the youngest female rap artist to debut on the music chart.[16][17][18] The success of "These Heaux" prompted Atlantic Records to sign Bregoli to a multi-album recording contract.[19] In September 2017, she remixed the Kodak Black song "Roll In Peace" and Tee Grizzley and Lil Yachty song "From the D to the A".[20] On September 22, 2017, she released "Hi Bich" and a day after, "Whachu Know", as a single alongside the music video, which received over a million views in 24 hours.[21][22]
