The Type-K EIIR postbox (No. HP21 299) in Lower Road, near the entrance to <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stoke_Mandeville_Hospital" class="extiw" title="w:Stoke Mandeville Hospital">Stoke Mandeville Hospital</a> Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. It was painted gold on 28 August 2012 by Baroness <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tanni_Grey-Thompson" class="extiw" title="w:Tanni Grey-Thompson">Tanni Grey-Thompson</a>, to launch the Paralympic portion of the Royal Mail's gold postbox scheme, where postboxes were painted gold to mark each gold medal at the London 2012 Olympian/Paralympic games. The hospital was chosen as the launch site due to its role as the spiritual home of the Paralympic Games.
