Summary

Altamiro (Ultrajado x Pompeia) is a purebred Sorraia stallion. His sire (bred by José Luis Vasconcellos e Sousa d'Andrade) and dam (bred by Maria Emilia d'Andrade Oliveira e Sousa) were exported from Portugal to Germany. Altamiro was born in 2005 at the Wisentgehege zoological park in Springe (Hanover), and was imported to Canada in 2006 to become part of a transcontinental conservation effort to save this endangered wild-type of primitive horse. This photo taken in May of 2008 shortly after his third birthday.
