Summary

Electrical Substation, Warren Minnesota The incoming 115 kV transmission line enters on the left and terminates on the A-frame structure. A circuit switcher (like a circuit breaker) is mounted on the pedestal to the right of the A-frame. A step-down 5000 kVA transformer near the center of the station reduces voltage to 41.6 kV and 12.47 kV. The 41.6 kV circuit connected to the original substation by a short transmission line built on wooden poles. The 12.47 kV bus connection continues to the right through a disconnect switch and three voltage regulators with bypass switches. The structure on the right hand side supports the 12.47 kV bus and the four reclosers (like a circuit breaker) that distribute power to the 12.47 kV buried cable circuits. Behind the A-frame to the left is the control building that contains the protection relays and controls for the station, as well as a supervisory control (SCADA) terminal. In the left background is a 41.6kV transmission line that supplied the city before construction of the 115kV line in 1999. Photo taken June 2001
