Summary

Glide ratio measures the capacity of an airplane to reach a distance while descending only a limited depth, without working engines. This value depends on the aerodynamic lifting and induced dragging forces. γ is the glide angle (Gleitwinkel), E is glide ratio (Gleitverhältnis), ε is glide number (Gleitzahl). Generally higher glide ratio is better.
