Summary

Hydraulic model of an inductor. Pressure is applied across the two terminals, which causes the heavy water wheel to accelerate. The heavy water wheel impedes sudden changes to the current, but once spinning water can pass through easily. The "inductance" in this case is the quantity that linearly relates the pressure applied to the acceleration of the flow of water through it, which is tied to the wheel's moment of inertia.
