Summary

This is a digital scan of "Laying tramlines", RWAHS R1770 in the photographic collection of the Royal Western Australian Historical Society.

The image shows tramlines being laid in Fremantle, Western Australia, in 1905. The photographer is standing on the west side of Market Street, looking eastwards along High Street, through what is now the High Street Mall and Kings Square. The building in the background with a clock tower is the Fremantle Town Hall.

Note the Jarrah (Eucalyptus marginata) paving blocks in the foreground.
