Rajpal Yadav is an Indian film actor known for his comic roles in Hindi cinema. He was born in the small town of Kundra, located in Shahjahanpur district in Uttar Pradesh.

Early life and education

Rajpal Yadav was born and raised in Shahjahanpur, near Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, where he received his primary education. He was associated with Shahjahanpur theatre and performed in several plays there before going to Lucknow to train at the Bhartendu Natya Academy from 1992 to 1994. After completing his studies there, he attended the National School of Drama in Delhi from 1994–97.

Career

He acted in the Doordarshan's television serial Mungeri ke bhai Naurangilal as the protagonist. This was sequel to a similar television program on Doordarshan, Mungerilal Ke Haseen Sapne.[1][2]

Although Yadav found success in negative roles, he preferred comic roles, as in Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya, and he went on to become a prolific comedian in Hindi films. His films include Hungama, Waqt: The Race Against Time, Chup Chup Ke, Garam Masala, Phir Hera Pheri and Dhol.[citation needed]

Yadav has also been the leading character in more serious films like Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon, Ladies Tailor, Rama Rama Kya Hai Drama, Hello! Hum Lallan Bol Rahe Hain, Kushti, Mirch and Main, Meri Patni Aur Woh.[citation needed]

For the film Jungle, he won Sansui Screen Best actor award in a Negative Role along with a nomination for the Screen Best Actor award. He received the Yash Bharati Award for the film Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon. Yadav was also awarded by the Janpad Ratna Award.[3][4]

He made his Telugu language debut in 2015 with Kick 2, and also played the main antagonist in controversial filmmaker Faisal Saif's multilingual film Amma.[5]

Personal life

Rajpal Yadav met his wife when he went to Canada for a film shoot. "That's when he met Radha. He fell in love with her while he was having an ice-cream! They both liked each other. He visited her home. After that, for 10 months he spoke to her over the phone from Mumbai. Thereafter, she shifted to India and they got married."[6]
