History
This ground has one of the best batting tracks in the world and a most preferred ground of BCCI to host ODI and other league matches. The stadium is known for the lush green outfield and has one of the most well maintained stadium in the country.
The second ODI of the series between India and Pakistan in 2005. But on the evidence of that game, in which over 650 runs were scored, the playing strip is one of the best batting pitches in the country, hard and true and perfect for hitting through the line, as the Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni proved while flaying the Pakistan attack on the way to 148.
The grass was specially brought from the Caribbean. In addition to this the stadium has the countries best water drainage facilities. The ACA president Ganga Raju recently stated that the stadium may be awarded test status during the next domestic season of Team India.
The stadium currently seats 38,000, although there are plans to increase its capacity to 50,000 with the addition of more tiers to the stands. These additions might, however, block the view of the hills and the pleasant breeze allowed into the ground by the low-lying stands, which currently give it a pleasant air far from the hothouse atmosphere of most Indian grounds.
In November 2015, the stadium was selected one of the six new Test venue along with Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, JSCA International Stadium Complex, Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium and Holkar Stadium in India.[1]
Ground profile

This stadium was used as an IPL venue for the Deccan Chargers in 2012. Sunrisers Hyderabad played their first 3 IPL home games at this venue in 2015.
