F.C. Internazionale Milano started off a new era with Roberto Mancini as coach and Massimo Moratti in a more passive role as owner, with club legend Giacinto Facchetti embarking on his first season as president.
Mancini brought several previous Lazio players with him to the club, but none of them could make a huge impact, the team instead relying on the goalscoring from Adriano during the autumn. In the second half of the season Adriano lost his form, and did not regain it ever in his Inter career. Therefore Inter have challenge Juventus and Milan for the title, but finish third in the end.
