Davon Coleman (born January 11, 1991) is an American football defensive end who is currently a free agent. He first enrolled at Fort Scott Community College before transferring to Arizona State University. He attended Glenville High School in Cleveland, Ohio.[1]

Early years

Coleman played high school football for the Glenville High School Tarblooders. He earned honorable-mention All-Ohio honors in his senior year.[1] He also practiced wrestling.

College career

Fort Scott Community College

Coleman attended Fort Scott Community College, recording 65 tackles, 8.5 tackles-for-loss, 2.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, two passes defensed and one interception in his redshirt freshman year.[1]

Arizona State University

He played from 2011 to 2013 for the Arizona State Sun Devils.[2] As a junior he played mostly at defensive end (9 starts), posting 11 tackles for loss (fifth on the team) and 5 sacks. He moved to defensive tackle as a senior and became a starter, recording 8.5 sacks (tied for the team lead) and 15 tackles for loss (third on the team). He finished his college career with 166 tackles (31 for loss) and 16 sacks.

Professional career

Dallas Cowboys

Coleman was signed by the Dallas Cowboys on May 13, after going undrafted in the 2014 NFL Draft.[3] Because of injuries on the defensive line, he made his NFL debut and first career start in the season opener against the San Francisco 49ers, recording two tackles.[4] His progress was slowed after suffering a strained calf in a weight room accident and was eventually waived on November 22. He finished the year on the practice squad.

On April 24, 2015, he had a verbal altercation with teammate Greg Hardy, in regards to Hardy's past domestic violence issues. He appeared in 3 games (was declared inactive for one) without registering a tackle, before being released on September 28.[5]

Chicago Bears

On December 22, 2015, the Chicago Bears signed Coleman to the practice squad.[6]

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

On February 5, 2016, he was signed to a futures contract by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. On May 17, 2016 the Buccaneers waived Coleman.
