KRAJ (100.9 FM) is a radio station broadcasting a Rhythmic Contemporary Hit Radio format. Licensed to Johannesburg, California, USA, it serves the Antelope Valley area. The station is owned by Adelman Broadcasting.

History

KRAJ signed on in January 1999 as 100.9 The Zone, simulcasting a Hot AC format from Jones Radio Networks but also included some local programming hosted from a studio in Quartz Hill, California. In the summer of 2004, following KCEL dropping oldies in favor of Regional Mexican, KRAJ started simulcasting Jones' "Good Time Oldies" format, and the format of the local programs was adjusted shortly after. In the first few months, KRAJ kept their local specialty shows from The Zone but later replaced them with syndicated programs that were originally heard on KCEL.

In the summer of 2005, KFXM signed on with an oldies format from Lancaster, California, and many of KRAJ's listeners migrated to KFXM because it had a stronger and cleaner signal. In late 2005, KRAJ dropped the oldies format in favor of a Hip hop format called 100.9 The Party Station, the format stayed but the name was changed to 100.9 The Heat in summer 2006. The Summer of 2008 The Heat brought on local dj talent DJ Craig EC who was named Program Director and changed the format up a bit taking the station more main stream with a hip hop lean. Today Craig EC is still program Director and 100.9 The Heat is the High Deserts #1 hit music station.

The oldies format was moved to KLOA (AM) at 1240 AM, also owned by Adelman. 1240 AM cannot be heard in the Antelope Valley.
