This station opened on July 31, 1884, with the extension of the SIRT from Vanderbilt's Landing to Tompkinsville.[1]

The station is located at grade with an island platform and two tracks. All staircases go up to overpasses at both ends of the station. The north entrance leads to Victory Boulevard and Bay Street and there is a parking lot adjacent to the southbound track. The south entrance leads to Hannah Street and there is a third track adjacent to the southbound track on that side. It is part of a Maintenance of Way shop, with barns on both sides of this line and located south of this station.[2]

Because many passengers used to exit at Tompkinsville, most likely to avoid paying the fare at St. George, the SIR installed turnstiles and a stationhouse at the Victory Boulevard entrance which opened on January 20, 2010.[3][4] Customers who enter at the Victory Boulevard entrance now pay the fare. The Hannah Street entrance is used only for emergencies.
