Ålhus Church (Norwegian: Ålhus kyrkje) is a parish church in Jølster Municipality in Sogn og Fjordane county, Norway. It is located in the village of Ålhus on the northern shore of the lake Jølstravatnet. The church is part of the Ålhus parish in the Sunnfjord deanery in the Diocese of Bjørgvin.[1][2]

History

Ålhus Church was built in 1795, on the same spot as a stave church from the Middle Ages. The white, wooden church was designed by the architect Gunder Gregoriussen Støfringshaug. The new Ålhus Church was restored in 1868 and again between 1947 and 1951. In the porch of the church there is a door that is said to be from a castle that belonged to Audun Hugleiksson.[3]
