Ōtsuchi Station (大槌駅 Ōtsuchi-eki?) is a JR East railway station located in Ōtsuchi, Iwate Prefecture, Japan. The station was washed away by the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami. Since that time, operations have been replaced by a provisional Bus Rapid Transit line.

Lines

Ōtsuchi Station was served by the Yamada Line, and was located 145.2 rail kilometers from the terminus of the line at Morioka Station.

Station layout

Ōtsuchi Station had two opposed side platforms connected to the station building, by an overhead passage. The station was staffed and had a Green Window ticket counter.

History

Ōtsuchi Station opened on 5 April 1938. The station was absorbed into the JR East network upon the privatization of the Japan National Railways (JNR) on 1 April 1987. The station was destroyed by the 11 March 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami.
