After the 2002-03 season, Lenny Wilkens was let go as coach of the Raptors and replaced by Kevin O'Neill.[2] Despite Vince Carter playing only 43 games due to injuries, he was voted to fourth straight All-Star Game. He was voted to start, but gave the starting position to Michael Jordan. Despite this, the Raptors managed to play mediocre basketball all season, finishing with a dismal 24-58 record. Before the season, Hakeem Olajuwon announced his retirement due to a back injury.
