The Campeonato Catarinense de Futebol de 2019 da Série A, known as the 2019 Campeonato Catarinense, is the 94th season of Santa Catarina's top-flight football league. The season will begin on 16 January and end in April. The defending champions are Figueirense, who won their 18th title by beating first phase champions Chapecoense in the final.
Format
The tournament is contested between 10 teams, who first play in a double round-robin in which the bottom two teams are relegated to next year's Série B. The format of the final stage is yet to be determined, as the FCF is waiting on approval from the CBF for an extra match-day.[1] The final stage will either be a single-legged final between the top two teams, or a single-legged bracket contested by the top four teams. Three places are available in the 2020 Copa do Brasil, while either two or three places will be available in the 2020 Série D, depending on whether the CBF decides to reduce the number of participants from 68 to 40.[2]
