American Internet Services (AIS) is a data center and cloud computing services provider in San Diego, California, US. AIS provides cloud computing, colocation, Internet service, disaster recovery, high availability, managed security, managed storage, structured cabling, and other IT infrastructure services.

Services

AIS service offerings are as follows:

Cloud

  • AIS BusinessCloud1 is a public cloud Infrastructure as a Service offering that uses the VMware vCloud Director cloud service software suite.

Colocation

  • AIS operates six carrier-neutral data centers for colocation—five in San Diego and one in Phoenix.

Network Connectivity

  • AIS manages its own redundant optical network which allows real-time service delivery from multiple points on the Internet to any AIS facility. The optical network reaches from San Diego and Los Angeles in Southern California to Phoenix in Central Arizona. The AIS Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) backbone provides low-latency, redundant Layer 3 VPN service between each facility. The MPLS links consist of dual, redundant 10Gbit/s connections between sites designed to self-heal in the event of a failure. AIS has more than 70 Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) peering and backbone connections spread across multiple data centers providing more than 40Gbit/s of Internet connectivity.

Managed Security

  • AIS offers a comprehensive managed security solution consisting of premises and cloud-based security services for protecting an organization across all potential attack vectors and fulfilling compliance requirements.[citation needed]

Managed Storage

  • AIS managed storage provides customers their own virtual NetApp (vFiler) with which they can manage their own storage configuration, creating shares or snapshots—including linking the storage to their own Active Directory service for authentication and logging.

Structured Cabling

  • The AIS Professional Services team offers structured cabling services consisting of cage, suite, building, or campus telecommunications cabling infrastructure.

Data Centers

Compliance

AIS has completed the SSAE 16 SOC 1, 2, and 3 Type II audit examinations for each facility. AIS has also completed the Title 21 CFR Part 11 audit of the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) guidelines on electronic records and electronic signatures (ERES). These audits were conducted by public accounting firm Moss Adams. Periodic audits validate that AIS has the appropriate procedures and controls in place to safeguard client data, equipment, and connectivity.[citation needed]

ITIL v3

Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) v3 Service Management procedures drive the Change Management and Incident Management process at AIS. ITIL is the de facto IT service management global standard and is a comprehensive, non-proprietary, and publicly available set of “best practices” guidelines.

Notable Customers

Businesses of all sizes and industries use AIS services.
