Black Rock State Park is a Connecticut state park in the town of Watertown.[3] The park is opened during the spring, fall, and summer seasons. The park is the home of Black Rock, a large rock face offering views of the Thomaston, Watertown, and portions of Waterbury, Connecticut.

Activities and amenities

  • Black Rock Pond: The park offers swimming, fishing, bathrooms with toilet paper, hot showers, food concessions, and picnic tables on Black Rock Pond.
  • Camping: There are 78 campsites; camping season runs from mid-April to September 30.
  • Hiking: Hiking is available on the Mattatuck Trail from the Grey Stone section of Waterbury to the Wigwam Reservoir in Morris. The trail offers scenic views of the Naugatuck Valley. Side trails have views of Black Rock Lake and Black Rock Pond as well as mature forests and meadows.
  • Fees: Fees are charged for parking during the summer and for campsites.
