Buford (Jacket Territory or Jacket Country, named after the school system's mascot[citation needed]) is an unincorporated community in Lancaster County, South Carolina, United States. It lies at the intersection of South Carolina Highways 9 and 522.

Buford was the site of the Waxhaw Massacre during the American Revolutionary War.

The community has several convenience stores, most notable, Buford Express at the "Buford Crossroads" and Buford Little General across from Buford Elementary and Middle Schools. A Dollar General is open now, since spring 2010.

Buford Elementary located at 1906 North Rocky River Road (Hwy 522). The School is PK-5th grades with a total of 823 students and 42 total Teachers. The Student Teacher Ratio is 20:1.

Buford Middle located at 1890 North Rocky River Road (Hwy 522). The School is 6th-8th grades with a total of 491 students and 26 total teachers. The Student Teacher Ratio is 19:1. The Gender Percentage is 55% Male and 45% Female.
