Central FM is the largest and longest serving English commercial radio station broadcasting in Southern Spain.[citation needed] There are now many English stations broadcasting over a similar area on the Costa del Sol, but Central FM leads the way,[peacock term] both in terms of their professional output and popularity. Others[which?] will say they are the "largest" but one only has to LISTEN to hear the difference. They are also listened to by thousands of listeners worldwide via their website's "LISTEN LIVE" button.[1]

History

After research identified a gap in the market for 20- to 55-year-olds, Central FM went on-air in 1996 promising to play "classic tracks and today's best music". Central FM retains its position as the flagship radio station for English-speaking residents and holidaymakers alike. Broadcasting to the entire Costa del Sol, inland areas and Gibraltar, Central FM is a mix of music, chat, humour, interviews, major competitions and International, National and Regional News. For a couple of years Central FM aired the renowned radio blues programme "Clear Blues", the longest running English language radio blues programme in Mainland Europe.
