Columbia National Forest

Columbia National Forest was established in Washington by the U.S. Forest Service on July 1, 1908 when it was established from part of Rainier National Forest with 941,440 acres (3,809.9 km2). On June 15, 1949 it was renamed Gifford Pinchot National Forest in honor of the forestry pioneer Gifford Pinchot. [1]
