Dave Alpert (born November 10, 1953 in Chicago, Illinois) is a Los Angeles based journalist who served as a correspondent for ABC News,[1][2] covering entertainment, showbiz and breaking news for ABC News Radio.[3] ABC News Radio is a unit of ABC News which is owned by the Walt Disney Company. ABC News Radio is distributed by Cumus Media. In addition to daily reporting for hourly radio newscasts, affiliate two-ways, podcasts and show prep services, he also provided voice-overs for television packages, appeared live on ABC News Now and World News This Morning, and contributed to ABCNews.com. He reported extensively on the events surrounding the 2009 death of pop star Michael Jackson.[4][5]

Alpert joined ABC News in New York City in 1980, moving from Chicago where he was a popular local news personality.[6]

Alpert was also one of the early employees of the London-based entertainment news agency now operating as World Entertainment News Network.[7]

Since May, 2011, Alpert has been providing custom local newscasts for radio stations around the country through Virtual News Center.[8][9]
