Dead or Alive Xtreme Venus Vacation (DOAXVV) is a PC web browser version of the 2016 PlayStation 4 video game Dead or Alive Xtreme 3. Developed by Team Ninja, it was released through Steam exclusively in Japan in November 2017. It is the first game in the Dead or Alive Xtreme subseries to be released for the Microsoft Windows operating system.

Characters

The game features all of the characters from Dead or Alive Xtreme 3, including the four new characters who did not appear in Xtreme 2, who all debuted in re-releases of Dead or Alive 5 (even though Momiji debuted in Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword, she did not appear in a DOA game until Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate). The game has also debuted several characters who are new to the franchise, such as the game's main character, Misaki, who would later be added to Dead or Alive Xtreme 3: Scarlet. The most recent addition, Patty, was added to the game in 2020.

The game does not include Tina Armstrong, Christie or Lisa Hamilton, who appeared in the first two games in the DOAX series as well as Dead or Alive Paradise, but were all excluded from Xtreme 3 due to their lack of popularity in Japan. Christie was at one point planned to be added to the game as a downloadable character, but these plans were later shelved and Team Ninja no longer has any interest in adding her to the game, instead choosing to focus on adding characters who are new to the series.

Tamaki, a new character who debuted in this game, was later added to Dead or Alive 6 as a downloadable character in early 2020. She is the fifth character to have been added to the game, following Mai Shiranui and Kula Diamond from The King of Fighters series, and Rachel and Momiji from the Ninja Gaiden franchise. Much like the two King of Fighters characters, Tamaki does not have a dubbed English voice option, even though Rachel and Momiji do.

Controversy

Much like Dead or Alive Xtreme 3, Venus Vacation has not been officially distributed outside of Japan, most likely at the request of Team Ninja's creative director Tom Lee, who himself is known for having strong left-wing political views[1], and has consistently pushed for censorship of the series. Another reason for this could be due to poor sales of the second game in the Xtreme series, as well as the fact that the game includes several highly sexualized characters who appear to look under the age of consent, which would also potentially cause controversy in western territories.
