Eastgate railway station, also known as Eastgate-in-Weardale, served the village of Eastgate, County Durham, England from 1895 to 1980 on the Weardale Railway.

History

The station opened on 21 October 1895 by the North Eastern Railway. It was situated on the east side of an unnamed minor road. Nearby was Lafarge cement works, where the goods shed was. After the works closed in 1993, cement vehicles and diesel shunters were left on site, which are gone today. The cement works were demolished in 2003. The station was closed to passengers on 29 June 1953 and it was downgraded to a public deliver siding on 14 September 1970 until it closed to goods traffic on 14 September 1980. The station building, goods shed and one of the platforms still exist today.[1]
