ECIKS (Economic Initiative for Kosova, Albanian: Nisma Ekonomike për Kosovën, German: Wirtschaftsinitiative für Kosovo) is a non-profit organization aiming to support a sustainable long-term economic development in Kosovo and the regional economic cooperation.

On November 2006, ECIKS has opened the first economic representation of Kosovo abroad and is representing the Investment Promotion Agency of Kosovo in the German speaking countries.

The Vienna branch of the IPAK is implemented by ECIKS and financed by the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the Austrian Development Agency.

A pro-active approach in foreign direct investment promotion by taking the initiative in contacting and providing case-to-case information to potential investors, analyzing and disseminating general information on business and investment opportunities in Kosovo, actively linking Kosovar entrepreneurs with potential partners abroad, etc. represent some of the main goals ECIKS is working to achieve.

History

Since its foundation in 2003, ECIKS is working to support a long-term and sustainable economic growth in Kosovo by stimulating foreign investments and providing specific services to its clients, organising events, publishing promotional materials, offering tailored services to foreign potential and existing investors in Kosovo, in publishing news and analysis on the economic and business developments in Kosovo, and in working closely with partner organisations.

From a small organisation created by a group of then Kosovar students in Vienna, ECIKS has grown to a partner of the business community. It now represents a serious partner of some European governments and international institutions, such as the World Bank, Austrian Development Agency, Vienna Economic Forum etc.

Since November 2006, within a project proposed by ECIKS and financed by Austrian Government through Austrian Development Agency, ECIKS officially represents the Investment Promotion Agency of Kosovo (IPAK) in the German-speaking countries. This office is at the same time the first official economic representation of Kosovo abroad.

Financing

ECIKS is financed through different projects. The main donor is the Austrian Government through the Austrian Development Agency. Moreover, ECIKS has close cooperation with the Government of Kosovo and is related to IPAK, the Investment Promotion Agency of Kosovo.
