History

Edendale Technical School is a mixed gender high school (Grade 8 to Grade 12) of which was formerly for boys and later changed (1996) to mixed gender. It was established in the year 1956 and it also one of the oldest schools around Pietermaritzburg. Edendale Technical High School is the only high school around Edendale area to have mixed race among staff. It has recorded a pass rate of 80% average from 2006 to 2015 and has been doing well under the leadership of Mr TF Ngubane whom is the current headmaster.

Awards and honours

The school is one of the best performing schools in Edendale[according to whom?] with in which more than 80% of candidates pass the matriculation examinations.[citation needed]

According to the Department of Education 2014 results Edendale Technical School 91% of its matric candidates passed, and in 2013 81% passed and in 2012 the pass rate was 75%. The pass rates for mathematics and science remain low.[citation needed]
