Edward Ernle
Sir Edward Ernle, 3rd Baronet (c.1673-1729) was an English politician. [1]
He was born a younger son of Edward Ernle of Etchilhampton, Wiltshire. Both his grandfathers were MPs. He succeeded his brother as 3rd Baronet in 1690. A portrait of him exists. [2]
He was elected a Member (MP) of the Parliament of England for Devizes 1695 - 1698, for Wiltshire 1698 - 1700 and for Wareham 5 March - 11 November 1701 and 22 February 1704 - 1705.
He was elected an MP of the Parliament of Great Britain for Wareham 13 December 1710 - 1713 and 1722 - 31 January 1729, for Heytesbury December 1701 - 1702, Marlborough 10 December 1708 - 1710 and Portsmouth 1715 - 1722.
He died on 31 January 1729. He had married Frances, the daughter and heiress of General Thomas Erle, MP of Charborough House, Dorset and had 2 daughters. He was succeeded in the baronetcy by a kinsman, Walter Ernle (1676–1732) of Chirton, Wiltshire.
