Fábio Fernandes (Rio de Janeiro, 19 August 1962) is a Brazilian advertising executive and entrepreneur. He majored in Journalism at the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro(PUC-RJ). Currently, he is CEO and creative director of F/Nazca Saatchi & Saatchi, winners of the “2001 Agency of the Year” award at the 2001 Cannes Festival.

Biography

Fabio Fernandes has been CEO and owner of the F/Nazca agency for 15 years, in partnership with the English Saatchi & Saatchi group.

During his 20-year-strong career he has also dedicated himself to the Clube de Regatas Vasco da Gama, where he has recently taken up the position of deputy chairman of the Marketing Department. Fabio’s career began in 1982 in Rio de Janeiro, as editor of the erstwhile MPM Propaganda. At 23 years of age, he was creative director of Artplan, also Rio based. In 1989, at 27 years old, he became creative deputy director of Young & Rubicam in São Paulo. In rankings published by the American magazine “Ad Age Global” in 2002, Fabio was listed amongst the top 100 communication and marketing executives in the world.

He is a business leader, and was nominated to receive the first ever Valuable Executive prize, awarded by the Valor Econômico financial newspaper, as the best advertising and marketing executive in 2001 [1]. In 1999, in a poll conducted by Gazeta Mercantil financial broadsheet, Fabio was named by advertisers as one of the top three most creative and coveted professionals in the market.

Fabio is a member of the Berlin-School of Creative Leadership, which brings together leading names in advertising, media, marketing and the entertainment industrial from around the world, together with fellow Brazilian advertising executives including Marcello Serpa and Washington Olivetto.

Since 1998, F/Nazca has remained among the 20 largest Brazilian agencies, according to the “Agencies and Advertisers” listings released annually by the Meio & Mensagem Magazine. His most famous clients include Skol, Unibanco, Claro, Nike and Carrefour.

Awards

Fabio Fernandes has won all the national and international awards in advertising, including dozens of Lions at the Cannes Festival, and a host of other awards at the New York Festival, Clio Awards, D&AD, The One Show, Art Director, London Festival and FIAP.

In Brazil, he has received 12 Grand Prix over the past five years and awards from the Clube de Criação de São Paulo, and the ABP, Prêmio O Globo, About, Prêmio Abril and Professional of the Year. F/Nazca is three times winner of the Prêmio Caboré award, regarded as the Oscar of Brazilian advertising. The first Caboré award was received in 1996 for Best Creative Professional, the second in 1999 in the Agency of the Year category, and the third in 2000 as Entrepreneur of the Communications Industry. In 2007, Fabiano was elected Advertising Executive of the Year by ABP (Brazilian Advertising Union).
