Description |
Close up of "Rachel", the bronze sculpture of a pig that functions as the unofficial mascot of Pike Place Market and the associated Market Foundation. |

Portion used |
The photo shows about half of the sculpture |
Low resolution? |
Since this is a 3D object, I'm not sure how that applies, but certainly not a notably hi-res image. We could reduce resolution for article purposes if someone thinks that would improve the fair use rationale. |
Purpose of use |
Rachel is one of the two or three best-known symbols of the Market and the best-known symbol of the Foundation, and an informal Seattle landmark (Seattleites meeting downtown will often say "meet me by the Pig"). We have a two-paragraph section of the article about this sculpture and its "progeny" (other pig sculptures around the Market and elsewhere in Seattle). Hard to imagine omitting an image of the sculpture itself. |
