Fiona Smith (birth name: Fiona Elliott) is a former English female badminton player. One of the greatest ladies singles players Britain has produced, renowned for her mental strength, accuracy, fitness and poise on court.[citation needed] She is coached and trained by her brother Mark Elliott (England Junior International and Surrey County stalwart).

Notable Achievements

  • 6 times English National singles champion.
  • 1 time English National mixed doubles champion.
  • 4 medals at 1986 Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh (gold in team event, silver in ladies singles and mixed doubles, bronze in ladies doubles).
  • Triple Gold Medalist at 1990 Commonwealth Games in Auckland (gold in ladies singles, ladies doubles and team event).
  • Silver medalist 1990 European Championships in Moscow.
  • Over 75 caps for England.

Personal life

Now residing in Marina Del Rey, California with her husband Peter (former England International and top 30 ranked singles player) and two children, Oliver and Lauren.
