Geedam is a census town and tehsil in Dantewada district in the state of Chhattisgarh, India. It is situated in national highway number 16, about 75 kilometers from Jagdalpur.

Demographics
As of 2001[update] India census,[2] Geedam had a population of 5899. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Geedam has an average literacy rate of 65%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 74%, and female literacy is 56%. In Geedam, 14% of the population is under 6 years of age.
Economy
Geedam is one of an important local market place for forest products. Tribal living in nearby jungle and villages bring forest products like mahua (used for making country beer), tora (used for making fuel oil), chironji, silk insect, dried mangoes. Tribals sell these things to local vendors. These markets are not only place for selling and buying forest products but also for green vegetable, fruits, local beer, clothes, fish and meat. Most of the vegetables sold in the market is locally grown.
