Gelechia scotinella, the thicket groundling, is a moth of the Gelechiidae family. It was described by Herrich-Schäffer in 1854. It is found in almost all of Europe. The habitat consists of mature hedgerows and scrubland.[2]

The wingspan is 11–14 mm.[3] Adults have been recorded on wing from June to September.[4]

The larvae feed on Prunus spinosa. They feed within the stems and flowers of their host plant.
