Halston Jean Schrage (born May 10, 1993[2]), better known by her stage name Halston Sage, is an American actress. She is known for her roles as Grace on the Nickelodeon television series How to Rock, Amber on the NBC television series Crisis, and Lacey in the film Paper Towns.
Early life
Sage was born and raised in Los Angeles, California.[3][4][5] Her parents are Lenny and Tema Schrage;[citation needed] she has a younger brother and a younger sister.[6] She is Jewish.[7][8] Sage rode horses competitively,[5] and was the editor of her high school's newspaper.[6]
Career
Television
Sage's career was launched in 2011, when she was cast in the role of Grace on the Nickelodeon series How to Rock,[9] which first aired on February 4, 2012,[10][11] and ran for a single 25-episode season. She has also guest starred on Nickelodeon's Victorious and Bucket & Skinner's Epic Adventures. In February 2013, Sage was cast in the short-lived NBC television thriller series Crisis, from Rand Ravich, playing Amber the daughter of Gillian Anderson's character.[12][13]
Film
Sage appeared as Brianna in the 2012 teen drama The First Time.[14] In 2013, she appeared in The Bling Ring[15] alongside Emma Watson, in Grown Ups 2 alongside Adam Sandler and Chris Rock, and in Poker Night with Beau Mirchoff and Ron Perlman.[16] She had a role in the 2014 film Neighbors, with Seth Rogen and Zac Efron; she played the part of Efron's girlfriend Brooke Shy.[17] Sage was a nominee for the MTV Movie Award "Best Kiss" for her onscreen kiss with Rose Byrne in Neighbors.[18]
In 2015, Sage played Lacey Pemberton in the film Paper Towns, alongside Nat Wolff and Cara Delevingne, and based on the 2008 novel of the same name by John Green.[19] Also that year, she co-starred in Sony Pictures' Goosebumps opposite Jack Black, and was cast in the role of Kendall in Paramount's Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse which centers on a group of Boy Scouts who rise to the occasion as their small town is faced with a zombie outbreak.[20] She was subsequently cast in Awesomeness Films' Before I Fall which stars Zoey Deutch.[21] In 2016, Sage finished filming the upcoming dramatic comedy People You May Know,[22] and was cast in Awesomeness Films' upcoming thriller film You Get Me opposite Bella Thorne.[23]
