Ineke Sluiter

Ineke Sluiter (born 1959) is a Dutch classicist and professor of Greek Language and Literature at Leiden University. She was a winner of the 2010 Spinoza Prize.[1]

Career

Sluiter was born in Amsterdam in 1959.[2][3] She studied Greek and Latin language and culture at the VU University Amsterdam and graduated in 1984. Sluiter obtained her doctorate cum laude from the same university in 1990. Between 1984 and 1997 she was lecturer and researcher at VU University. In 1998 she became professor of Greek Language and Literature at Leiden University.[1]

In 2010 she was one of four winners of the Dutch Spinoza Prize and received a 2,5 million euro grant.[4]

Sluiter is member of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) since 2012.[5] In 2016 Sluiter won the KNAW Academy Professor Prize, the other winner was Hans Clevers.[6]
