<templatestyles src="Module:Hatnote/styles.css"></templatestyles>

Italy had three competitors at the first Olympic equestrian events. The names of two are known. Trissino competed twice in the high jump, on different horses, as well as jumping. Di Modrone competed in the long jump and jumping, and appears to have competed in the high jump twice as well.[2] A third Italian competed in jumping and, most likely, the high jump.

  2. According to both Mallon and de Wael, there were 18 entrants in the event, 5 of which were Italian. De Wael contends that all 18 competed. Trissino competed twice. Assuming the unknown equestrian competed once, di Modrone must have entered the event twice.
  3. Stagliano advanced as an alternate to the semifinals when Dutertre withdrew.
