John Clancy is a Labour councillor for Quinton ward in Birmingham, England.[1] He became leader of Birmingham City Council on 1 December 2015, replacing Albert Bore.[2][3][4]

He was previously councillor for the city's Hodge Hill ward from 2002 to 2006, and was elected to represent Quinton in May 2011.[1] He also served as election agent for the Birmingham Edgbaston MP Gisela Stuart in 2001.[1]

Clancy is from Stockport, Greater Manchester, but has lived in Birmingham since around 1990.[1] His career has included stints as a teacher, university lecturer and solicitor.[1] He is married to a teacher and they have one daughter.[1]
