John Rittman is an American college softball coach, serving as the first head coach of the Clemson Tigers softball team, scheduled to begin play in 2020. He previously served as head coach at Stanford and an assistant with USA Softball, Kansas, Washington, Minnesota, and Oregon.[1][2][3]
Rittman played college baseball at Yavapai College before transferring to New Mexico State. He served as an assistant softball coach at Oregon, Minnesota, and Washington before becoming the head coach at Stanford. He led the Cardinal to 16 consecutive NCAA Division I Softball Championship appearances, five Super Regionals, and two Women's College World Series berths in his 18 years at Stanford. He resigned after the 2014 season.[4] He then spent two seasons at Kansas as an assistant, and also two stints as an assistant with USA Softball.[1]
On November 3, 2017, Rittman was named the first head coach at Clemson, with the first game scheduled to be played in 2020.[1][3]
