Kaseya is an international company that produces remote management software for the information technology industry. It develops and sells commercial software to remotely manage and monitor computers running Windows, OS X, and Linux operating systems.

History

Kaseya software enables a single framework for implementing IT policies, procedures and systems management across highly distributed collections of computers, servers, workstations, laptops or mobile devices.[2]

Kaseya was launched in 2000 in Silicon Valley, California by Mark Sutherland, Paul Wong, and Robert Davis. Former Kaseya CEO, Gerald Blackie, joined the company in 2003 by way of a 50/50 merger.[3]

Kaseya received press for locating laptops stolen from Blue Cross Blue Shield Association in 2009[4] and Mirus IT Solutions in 2011.[5]

In 2009, Kaseya acquired the PEPPM technology contract for IT automation solutions for the US government and education.[6] That same year, Kaseya also acquired the assets of Datatune, Inc., a computer-consulting firm.[7]

June 24, 2013 - Insight Venture Partners made an investment in Kaseya and Yogesh Gupta was named President and CEO.[8]

In July, 2015, Fred Voccola was named as CEO. In November, 2015, Kaseya announced the general availability of VSA 9.2, which is an IT systems-management software including support for Microsoft's Window's 10.[9]

Acquisitions

In June 2007, Kaseya acquired the technology assets of Versora Corporation, desktop computer migration software maker.[10]

In 2010, Kaseya acquired ObjAcct Inc., an XML-based accounting software developer.[11]

In 2011, Kaseya acquired Intellipool A.B., and planned to integrate the product Intellipool Network Monitor. The Intellipool Network Monitor monitors computer network activity and network performance.[12]

On July 9, 2013, Kaseya purchased Zyrion Corporation. Zyrion® provides the management and monitoring of IT services using ITIL-based Business Service Management (BSM) technology for distributed and complex data center environments.

On July 16, 2013, Kaseya purchased Rover Apps, to provide market-leading security for mobile BYOD users using a secure containerized approach.

On Oct 24, 2013, Kaseya purchased 365command, a Microsoft (MSFT) Office 365 management solution for IT organizations and managed services providers (MSPs), to provide customers with management capabilities for Microsoft's cloud application suite.

On August 12, 2014, Kaseya acquired Scorpion Software, a developer of identity and access management software.

Products

Kaseya can be used to automate IT tasks including interactive kiosks, as the software is deployed on over 2,000 Redbox vending machines with a support office based near Chicago.[13][14]

Kaseya distribution partners include[15] Virtual Administrator,[16] Ingram Micro, Lenovo, Cloud Services Depot [17] and Achab S.r.l. [18]

Certifications

Kaseya Virtual System Administrator (VSA) has received Common Criteria security evaluation up to CC EAL2 augmented by ALC_FLR.2. Certificate Number CRP264.[19]
