Kis-My-Ft2 (キスマイフットツー Kisu Mai Futto Tsū?, "Kiss My Foot Two") is a 7-member Japanese boy band under Johnny & Associates. Their name comes from their members' names: Hiromitsu Kitayama, Kento Senga, Toshiya Miyata, Wataru Yokoo, Taisuke Fujigaya, Yuta Tamamori and Takashi Nikaidō (ni is Japanese for the number 2).

The group was a former Johnny's Jr. unit and debuted August 10, 2011.[1] The first announcement of their debut date was postponed due to the Great Tōhoku Earthquake.

History

2005–2010: As a Johnny's Jr

In August 2005, two Johnny's Jr. units, Kis-My-Ft. and A.B.C.Jr., combined to form Kis-My-Ft2. The name came from the first letter of each of their family names: Hiromitsu Kitayama, Kyōhei Iida, Kento Senga, Toshiya Miyata, Wataru Yokoo, Taisuke Fujigaya, Yūta Tamamori and Takashi Nikaidō ("ni" being the Japanese for the number two). They performed as an eight-member group until the end of March 2006 when Iida left Johnny's due to his studies, leaving Kis-My-Ft2 without its "I" (Kitayama's name would later fill this void).

In 2008, they held their first solo concerts (along with A.B.C-Z) at Yokohama Arena and Yoyogi Stadium and planned further ones for 2009.

In 2009, they got their own stage play for the first time, together with Uchi Hiroki and Yara Tomoyuki. They played the Playzone 2009, which until then had always been performed by Shōnentai.

In 2010 they once again held concerts, this time with the title Kis-My-Ftに010 逢えるdeShow. That year also marked their CM debut. They got to do CM for dwango.jp, where they also released two digital singles: "Fire Beat" and "Inori". In September they did a musical together with A.B.C-Z, Shōnen-tachi ~Kōshi Naki Rōgoku~. At the end of the year they once again held concerts, which lasted until early the next year.

2011: Debut

On February 12, 2011, during their concert they got a brown envelope to open during the MC. It announced that they were to have their debut in May under Avex. But due to the Touhoku earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan, the CD release got postponed until summer.

During their concert on July 29 in Yokohama they got another brown envelope announcing that they would held their first concert in Tokyo Dome on August 28. With their official debut on August 10, it became the shortest time any music artist has ever had from their debut to a Tokyo Dome concert. Previously this record was held by Hey! Say! JUMP and Tackey & Tsubasa with Tokyo Dome concerts 38 days after their official debut.

On August 10, 2011, they released their debut single "Everybody Go!". They also released it in Other Asian countries such as Taiwan, Philippines, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and South Korea.

During the Tokyo Dome concert they once again received a brown envelope announcing that in 2012 the group will tour around 47 prefectures of Japan and five Asian counties: South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand and Singapore.

On October 26, 2011 the group release their 2 concert DVD's Kis-My-Ft2 ni Aeru de Show vol.3 / Kis-My-Ft2 Debut Tour 2011 Everybody Go.

On December 14, 2011, the group released their second single "We Never Give Up!"

2012-present

From January 14 to March 17, 2012, the group member Fujigaya Taisuke took part in NTV drama "Risou no Musuko" as Mifune Kengo.

On March 21, 2012, the group released their third single "SHE!HER!HER!".[2] The single was used to be Watering Kiss Mint's CM music, released in 2 different versions: Regular Edition (with B-Side song "DEEP YOUR VOICE" - theme song for variety show Moshimo Tour and bonus one random mini poster of group members) and Limited Edition (CD and a bonus DVD with SHE!HER!HER! music video and its making-of, plus GLICO WATERING KISSMINT CM and its making-of). It immediately topped the Oricon Weekly Single Ranking with 192,937 copies sold.

On March 28, 2012, they released their first album Kis-My-1st with 4 versions: Limited Edition Jacket A (CD album and DVD footage, plus Music video for 2 of their pre-debut songs "FIRE BEAT" and "Inori"); Limited Edition Jacket B (CD album and CD Kis-My-ZERO album featuring 8 original pre-debut songs); Regular Edition Jacket C (CD album with 2 bonus track "TELL ME WHY" and "DANCING STAR"); Kis-My-1st SHOP VERSION that can only be bought through Kis-My-SHOP online (for Japanese fans only, featuring 30-minute footage of members named "Ashi Ato" and special booklet).[3]

From March 31 to June 6, the group was holding their national Kis-My-MINT Tour.

The group was the 4th artist by total sales revenue in Japan in 2014, with ¥5.258 billion.[4]
