Luke Philip McCormick is an English footballer who currently plays as a midfielder for League One club Shrewsbury Town, on loan from Premier League club Chelsea.

Career

McCormick joined Chelsea in 2005 at the age of just 6. He began his scholarship in 2015, starting his time with the club as a striker. During the 2015–16 season, McCormick moved to a central midfield position as he became a regular in the youth team setup and featured for the under-21 squad.

The following season, McCormick became even more of a regular as the under-18 squad clinched a treble, including lifting the FA Youth Cup. He was a first-team regular in the Premier League 2 and the Checkatrade Trophy, while also being captain for the under-19 squad in the UEFA Youth League.[2]

On 18 July 2019, McCormick joined League One side Shrewsbury Town on a season-long loan. Shrewsbury manager Sam Ricketts, in an interview with the club's website, stated that McCormick was brought to his attention by former Chelsea player and current technical academy coach Joe Cole, and that "He recommended him, really likes him as a player and likes his attitude".[3] McCormick made his debut for Shrewsbury Town in a pre-season friendly at home to Aston Villa, in which "The Shrews" were defeated 0–1.[4]
