Martha Longenecker

Martha Williams Longenecker (May 18, 1920 – October 29, 2013[1][2][3]) was an American artist, and founder of the Mingei International Museum in San Diego.[4]
Longenecker was born in Oklahoma City and studied at University of California Los Angeles and the Claremont Graduate School.[4][5] She also undertook post-graduate research in Japan, studying under Shoji Hamada and Tatsuzo Shimaoka.[5]
From 1955 to 1990, Longenecker was Professor of Art at San Diego State University.[6]
Honors
- Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette, 2003.[6]
- Inducted into the San Diego Women's Hall of Fame, 2011.[7]
