Mehola (Hebrew: <templatestyles src="Script/styles_hebrew.css" />מְחוֹלָה) is a religious moshav and Israeli settlement in the West Bank, near the Palestinian village of Bardala.[1] Located in the Jordan Valley near the Green Line with an area of 5,000 dunams, it falls under the jurisdiction of Bik'at HaYarden Regional Council.[2] In 2011 it had a population of 508.[3]
The international community considers Israeli settlements in the West Bank illegal under international law, but the Israeli government disputes this.[4]
The village was established in 1967 by Bnei Akiva members, and was civilianised the following year. It was named after the biblical city of Abel-mechola (1 Kings 19:16),[5] which was located in the area.
