Sir Nicholas Proctor Goodison is a businessman who was chairman of the London Stock Exchange from 1976-1986. He is also a supporter of the arts.
Goodison was born on 16 May 1934 and educated at Marlborough School and then King's College, Cambridge.[1]
He served as chairman of the Courtauld Institute of Art from 1982 to 2002 and of the National Art Collections Fund (now The Art Fund) from 1986 to 2002.[2]
He appeared as a "castaway" on the BBC Radio programme Desert Island Discs on 1 March 1987.[3]
His portrait in oil, by Tom Phillips, is in the Stock Exchange's collection.[2] A preparatory sketch made in oil on panel in 2006 was acquired from the artist by the Art Fund and is in the Courtauld Gallery.[4]
