ODIN provides RFID (Radio-Frequency Identification) software and solutions for the Aerospace, Government, Healthcare, Financial Services and Social Media markets. ODIN's world headquarters is located in San Diego, CA. ODIN was acquired by Quake Global in December 2012 and continues to focus on healthcare and asset tracking.

ODIN won a $14.6M contract from the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), which represents the largest passive RFID deployment contract that has been granted to date.[1] The DoD renewed that contract again in 2007. ODIN's focus on the Government space has won them business with the DLA, the United States Marine Corps, The Navy, as both a prime and sub-contractor. ODIN is a woman-owned small business.

In March 2008, RFID Journal announced that Airbus was awarded the Best RFID Implementation of the Year.[2] In 2006 ODIN was the only company to receive the Department of Commerce's Excellence in Innovation Award.[3] The company has received over 25 awards in the RFID industry.

The company was founded in 2002 when serial entrepreneur and author of RFID for Dummies Patrick J. Sweeney II, teamed up with the inventor of the EPC Protocol and former director of MIT's Auto-ID lab, Dr. Daniel Engels, to focus on the physics of RFID. From those early days focusing on the physics, they have led the largest deployments in the RFID space worldwide. Notable RFID companies who have purchased this software include Motorola/Symbol and Intermec.

RFID & Health Care

In 2010 Mayo Clinic announced a joint deal with ODIN to commercialize specimen tracking with RFID.[4]

RFID & Social Media

ODIN was the first RFID company to completely integrate RFID & Facebook with a system called EasyConnect which allow users to automatically Like and Check-In on their Facebook page through the use of an RFID tag. This is based on the system deployed by Vail Resorts at hundreds of locations across its five mountain resorts in 2010 (Video[5]). The system was used at the Dew tour as well as trade shows,[6] events and marketing activities. Information Week calls the combination of RFID & Social media putting Facebook on "auto pilot".[7]

ODIN has operations in Ashburn, Virginia USA, Boston, MA, Dublin, Ireland, Toulouse, FR and Budapest Hungary. ODIN serves clients on five continents and 50 countries. The company is privately held by employees with no venture capital investment.

Acquisition Activity

In December 2010 ODIN announced the acquisition of Reva Systems.[8] Terms of the deal were not publicly disclosed. Reva raised around $35 million in venture funding from Charles River Ventures, Northbridge Partners and Cisco.[9]

ODIN was purchased by Quake Global in 2012 for an undisclosed sum and continues to focus on healthcare and asset tracking.[10]
