SK Aarhus is a Danish women's handball club based in Aarhus. They play in the Dame Håndbold Ligaen (Women's Handball League) SK Aarhus has previously also included basketball and volleyball, but chose to go their ways again.

History

SK Aarhus had for years been at the bottom of the league and a relegation was a reality after the season 2004/2005. However was SK Aarhus quite superior and was promoted again after just one season. Later rearmed the club and had the luck to attract a few large profiles as Karin Mortensen and Trine Troelsen and this bore fruit in form of a playoff place and fourth place after three matches against FCK Håndbold in the season 2008/2009.

On 30 November 2009 it was revealed that SK Aarhus had gone into receivership and that they had a deadline of 15 January 2010 to find a solution[1] This got a few of the club's backers to stop in the club at the turn of 2009-10. Although it managed to raise money to drive the club forward, failed to get over the economic problems, and after the 2010-11 season left a few more profiles club. The team came up with even smaller budget started the following season, but on Nov. 21, 2011, the management decided to take steps against dissolving the club when the then investors did not want to increase the support.[2] Subsequently went a group of investors together to secure the club's future, which resulted in a continuation of the club[3]

In the 2011/2012 season SK Aarhus was relegated after an 8th place in the league and a 3rd place in the qualifying group, means they have to meet KIF Vejen in best of 3 matches. SK Aarhus lost 2-1 and wasrelegated to the 1. division.

In the season 2013/2014 was SK Aarrhus back in the league after a 2nd place in the league and winning 2-0 against Nykøbing Falster Håndboldklub
